Wonderful Belkin Cover for my New Kindle Fire,
I purchased this in advance of the release of the Kindle Fire because it appeared to be simple and relatively inexpensive. Well, it is both of those, plus the purple color is far more muted than in the picture presented and it makes it look rather impressive. It feels wonderful (like leather) and doesn’t add to the bulk of the Kindle at all. A great purchase. I would highly recommend this to family and friends, or purchase it for my brother as an inexpensive Christmas gift.

Great for what I need to protect my Kindle Fire,
I did not buy this online but saw this sold in local Target store and bought it there. Also saw the M-Edge Hampton cover for the Kindle Fire in the store and those were the only two really available to compare in person. The Hampton cover looks like it can work as a stand, but I did not feel I needed to use my tablet to be stood up, and wanted a cover that had a magnetic closure. I like the 4 elastic straps at the corners as it’s easy to put the tablet in and it holds it snug. It’s thin enough not to be bulky to put in my purse but feels “leather-like” enough and feels sturdy enough in my hands. It’s velour material inside which feels good – not sure if it will stain as mentioned in a different review for Belkin product for different Kindle. It also has a thin pocket on the inside to put any papers but I have not needed to use such. Although the 3 edges are exposed on the sides, it is convenient to charge the tablet with the cover in place. So far I’m pleased for its purpose.
Whether I think it’s worth $29.99, that’s hard to say b/c I don’t think any of the covers should cost as much as they are listed as, but for what I get it’s reasonable enough.
I’ve read in detail the various other choices I had between the Marware leather and shelllike covers as well as other sleeves and based on the reviews and how the covers work, I like having something with a magnetic closure – simple to open and close.
Ideally if there was a cover out there that can be used as a stand and had a magnetic closure or some type of closure, that would be the most ideal cover I would look for in the Kindle Fire.

literally just an outer cover,
This cover is probably as basic as it gets. The first thought I had was “wow, this was $30″? Looking at it, it seems like it should cost half that. It does seem like it will do a good enough job protecting the outside from things like minor scratches, but the 3 outer sides of the kindle are pretty exposed- at least the straps do a pretty good job of keeping the kindle in place, but here is no kind of padding at all. It is help closed my a magnetic strap that seems to function adequately. I don’t think this cover would do any good if you dropped the kindle, but I don’t think it was designed for that. A big minus for me is that this case does NOT function as a stand.
So overall, extremely basic, low to average quality, but will probably do a good enough job if you never take your kindle outside the house…but at $30 it seems really overpriced. I have to say I like the “Splash Signature Folio” cover much better- it’s the same price, provides better protection, and functions as a stand.
